Delft University of Technology, Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering, Section Applied Ergonomics & Design focusses on the optimisation of the human product interaction, especially on the aspects usability, anthropometry, inclusive design and health engineering.
Our faculty has about 1100 BSc and 600 MSc students , 200 fte scientific staff and 70 fte supporting staff.
Dr Johan FM Molenbroek studied mechanical engineering at the Polytechnic HTS Enschede (1974)and after finishing this, he studied biomedical engineering at the University Twente(1978). He received there his bachelor degree and masters degree. From then on, he worked as scientific staff member at the Delft University of Technology, Faculty Industrial Design Engineering, Section Applied Ergonomics Design. He received his PhD (1994) and published this topic as a book 'Made to Measure' (in Dutch only). Now he is appointed as Associate Professor Industrial Design Engineering especially in Physical Ergonomics and Inclusive Design.
He was a member of the management team for 5 years of the new department Industrial Design (100 people) and responsible for finances and personal. He is active in the Dutch Society for Ergonomics, The Foundation for Quality and Usability Research for Elderly and Handicapped (KBOH); he was chair of the Educational Committee Industrial Design Engineering, he is member of the National and European Standardization Committees on Anthropometry and a member of School furniture. He referees regularly journal, conference articles and research proposals.
He is coordinator together with his colleague Marijke Dekker the European Genie project on Gerontechnology (http://www2.io.tudelft.nl/research/ergonomics/genie/).
His current research focuses on Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI) and on the usability of ergonomical and 3D-anthropometrical data for designers. His publications and other information are on www.dined.nl/molenbroek
