Founded in 1950, Anthrotech is a world leader in the measurement of body size data and its application to design. The company specializes in 3D scanning to supplement traditional measurements made using calipers and tapes. They serve design communities in the automotive, clothing, workspace and protective equipment industries.
Dr. Bruce Bradtmiller, a consultant to Size China, is an internationally recognized expert in applied anthropometry. He is president of Anthrotech, the leading firm in the United States specializing in the collection, analysis and application of anthropometric data. He has directed many anthropometric surveys, including the 1987-1988 U.S. Army Anthropometric Survey, which has become the landmark U.S. military survey and whose data and methods are still in use. In addition, he has directed three large-scale 3-D scanner surveys: one of children for the development of bicycle helmets; one of respirator users for the development and improvement of respirator fit and protection; and one for the U.S. Navy, where the data are used for the design of protective helmets, eyewear and hearing protection. He is currently directing a survey of air traffic control specialists for the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration.
Dr. Bradtmiller is active in national and international standards-making organizations. He is the principal author of ISO’s new standard on 3-D Anthropometry (ISO 20685:2006), as well as a contributing author on its standard for internationally compatible anthropometric databases (ISO 15535:2003).
